Guided by a teacher, with 30 years of professional and teaching experience, who firmly believes that the power of the visual medium must be used to educate, inform and draw powerful emotional response. To use photography to influence public opinion, to bring positive change through the professional, ethical and effective use of this visual medium.
Photography is not bound by the barriers of language and communicates through it’s own visual symbolism. People, for the most part prefer seeing things with their own eyes, this is not always possible, therefore photographs must serve as a substitute. The problem that comes with images is that, we inherently tend to take a photograph for what it appears to be, as a sort of truth, but photographs do lie – they can be falsified and manipulated. Nevertheless, a photograph carries a strong measure of unquestioning authenticity and conviction.
Our ultimate objective is to inspire people, to be better photographers, and more importantly to be responsible photographers and to examine not just the How, but the Why and Should we?
I, Asif Raza have been in the business of photography for 30+ years. I have had an interesting journey that has been circuitous and, in many instances, serendipitous. All these years have made me appreciate life and everything that it offers. I do have a quirky sense of humour, though I am very patient and revel in problem solving and making life easier for those that I work with.
We must show responsibility towards what we photograph since a photograph can carry a strong measure of authenticity and conviction.
